An ongoing group of writers that meets every Monday night at a restaurant in White Plains. Two people submit every week and the group reviews their work and discusses it at the meeting. Meetings are usually two hours. A writer will on average submit once a month. Before being admitted to the group, we require a writing sample. Any representative work will be fine. It doesn't have to be long.
At our meetings we write for thirty-minute stretches with ten-minute breaks. That's all. Bring your notebook, clay tablet, laptop, whatever you write on. Some write fiction, some write memoir, some write encyclopedia entries. It's up to you. There's no pressure to share or critique, but there are opportunities. This is mostly just a way to provide a comfortable environment for writing that's not so lonely. You can write whatever you wish, of course, but there will be writing prompts, if you' …

When I was looking for members to join an established writing group of which I am part, I found there were many people who wanted a group for the beginning or novice writer. I started this group for those who might be intimidated by authors they feel are further along in their writing. I will be facilitating the group by giving writing assignments and exercises to those who would like them. I will also guide the group in their critiques which can be helpful to new writers and new groups in gen …

The Boonton NJ Writers Group is an established critique group seeking to add a handful of new members. Our members attend regularly and therefore develop an intimate understanding of each others' work - be it a short story, memoir, novel, or script. Although we love and admire poets, we don't critique poetry. The group meets twice a month on Wednesdays at 8 PM at the Empire Diner in Parsippany. Due to the format of this group where we review three writers often lengthy submissions every other we …

Two of us - a gay male writer and a lesbian female writer - decided to create a group for LGBTs who are serious about their writing, and want to share their work in an environment that understands and celebrates LGBT literature. The purpose of the group is to support each other's writing endeavors through positive encouragement, thoughtful critique and celebration. The format is biweekly meetings during which we discuss the work of two or three writers, depending on length of submissions. We'll …

Code Meet Print is the community at the intersection of texts + technology that will contemplate, define, and help build better interfaces for …

Not all creative people are looking for criticism. Some just want inspiration, friends, and the chance to be creative with others who just get it. While originally a writers' group, this group is going to tour great coffee houses, where members will have the opportunity to do art or writing alongside each other. We'll be each others' cheerleaders on our journey, whether that be writing your memoir, standing in front of a microphone reading a poem or singing out loud, or just having friends to …
